-
- I don't think they need go that far. There are loads of Amiga users on the
- net in the UK. I for one would have gone to my local Escom, and indeed any
- other store, and showed them how to do things the Amiga Way. Free.
- Gratis.
-
- : This enthusiast can create a boot disk with a modern Workbench set-up.
-
- This is bollox. There should have been a demo disk for every store anyway.
-

-
- As I said above, I would have done the local one free. I think many more
- Amiga users would if it meant giving the Amiga a real chance.
-
- We all love the Amiga.
-
- : Before this news you wouldn't believe the difficulty we had in simply

- : After this period, JA called the office and said; "I'm most disappointed in
- : that Mat Bettinson, he said he'd have it back to me in seven days but...".
- : Jeezus, they just got the one set or something?! This was day 8 or 9.
-
- Yeah but let's face it. The I-glasses are a crock, Escom are hoping to
- cash in on VR being a buzzword. The I-glasses are a world away from VR
- IMHO.
-
- : The UK team didn't even possess the initiative to PURCHASE some second hand
- : Amigas when no new units were available. Companies demonstrating software
- : for submission to the Magic Pack had to take their OWN AMIGAS to the
- : Maidenhead headquarters. Yes that's right.
-
- Could they afford to buy some second hand Amigas? Anyway what would it
- have mattered the C= A1200 and AT A1200 are not compatible.
-
- : AT UK also admitted that they didn't test ONE item of software contained in
- : the Amiga Magic Pack. Hence the Scala fiasco. Nice one fellas.
-
- Yes they should be shot. Really though it's not there job. The pack is
- standard wherever the Amiga is sold, that is AT GmbH's responsibility.
-
- : Why on earth it should take someone like me to tell Amiga Technologies this
- : is totally beyond me. Since they've been in the business of selling machines
- : (Escom), I would have though this much would be obvious to them. :-/
- :
- : The UK is an absolutely massive Amiga market (1st or 2nd largest is in
- : dispute) and yet it's treated with near absolute disregard by the German
- : mangement including the lack of supervision to the largely incompetant UK
- : staff and poor appointments initially in any event.
- :
- : Did AT enquire as to what AT UK were doing to sell Amigas in the UK?
- :
- : They have ONLY THEMSELVES TO BLAME for the poor Christmas sales.
- :
- : <rant over>
-
- AT have disappointed a lot of people, but let's remember what happened.
-
- Escom at first bought the C= trademarks so that they could sell C= badged
- PCs. The legality of the sale was somewhat flaky. So maybe they bought up
- the rest of C= (Amiga) to safeguard the opportunity to use the C= name.
-
- Put it this way, the "march" Amiga really is gonna have to be something
- very special.
